Playoff Rule A - No Ties (NHL shootout rule shall apply)
If regulation time ends with the score tied then the teams shall immediately go into a three-round shootout. If still tied after three rounds then the shootout continues in extra rounds until one team scores when the other team doesn't. Home team chooses whether to shoot first or last.
Playoff Rule B – Championship Games Only
If regulation time ends with the score tied then the teams shall immediately play a 5-minute sudden-death overtime period (goalies do not change ends) before applying the shootout Playoff Rule A.
Playoff Rule C – Playoff Point System
Regulation Win = 2 points; Shootout Loss = 1 point; Regulation Loss = 0 points.
Playoff Rule D – Time of Periods
If the time slot for the game is one-hour, then the periods should be 11-minutes in length.
Top two teams play for Championship
Tie breaker:
1) Head to head between (2) tied teams
2) Goal differential between all tied teams (up to a max of 5 per game)
3) Fewest goals allowed between all tied teams
4) Goal differential between all teams (up to a max of 5 per game)
5) Coin toss
- In the event of 3 tied teams: Once tie breaker eliminates one team, tie breaker goes back to step #1
